Although already offering an extensive set of features, sometimes the needs of a specific customer require modification of our existing digitizers. This is addressed by ADQ Design Services. Whether a minor software modification or a major hardware redesign, our engineers are dedicated to support you in making your project a success. The design services we typically provide under the ADQ Design Service program are:

  • Software application development
  • FPGA firmware development
  • Modification of existing digitizer platforms
  • Full-custom development of test & measurement equipment

Software Application Development
A software development kit (SDK) is provided free of charge when purchasing a digitizer from SP Devices. The SDK supports several programming languages and allows for easy integration of the digitizer into your application. Even so, relying on the expertise of the authors of the SDK is both cost effective and convenient. Through our software services we often provide customized low level drivers, specialized graphical user interfaces, integration support and more.

FPGA Firmware Development
You do not need to have knowledge in FPGAs to be able to use digitizers from SP Devices. After all, the digitizer should serve as a tool that enables you to capture the data that you need without forcing you to understand all of the digitizer internals. Nevertheless, today’s FPGAs offer massive parallelism and extreme calculation power which can significantly easen the burden of your host PC. Moving calculation intensive parts to the FPGA can lead to several orders of magnitude speed-up compared to the PC alone. Through our membership in the Xilinx Alliance Program we offer you highly skilled FPGA development engineers that will help you implementing optimized averagers, filters, FFTs and any other DSP blocks that you might require.

Modification of Existing Digitizers
We urge you to let us know if you are lacking details on our existing digitizers, and we are open to making modifications based on your requirements. Previously implemented customer specific modifications include adding additional input channels, increasing the on-board memory size, customizing analog front-ends and more.

System Integration with Custom Backplane
custom_backplaneFor optimized systems performance, SP Devices offers custom backplane development. Integrating a digitizer system into a limited physical volume is challenging, but we can help you by developing a tailored solution including backplane hardware, systems integration and data transfer optimization. Our existing portfolio of digitizers and corresponding FPGA IP libraries allows us to deliver full-custom designs with proven performance and short time-to-market.
