Digitizers optimized for pulsed-data capture
In this newsletter we highlight some advantages with SP Devices' digitizer products for pulsed-data applications such as LIDAR and mass-spectrometry.
ADQ1600TD - optimized for pulse data capture with high speed and resolution

ADQ1600TDSince its introduction the ADQ1600 has enabled our customers to perform data acquisition with an unmatched combination of high sampling rate and vertical resolution enabled by SP Devices' proprietary ADX interleaving technology. The product has gained significant popularity and as a result been widely adopted by customers engaged in both time and frequency domain applications.

With the introduction of our performance enhancement techniques for pulse-data applications we are now offering a new and additional version of the ADQ1600 which we call ADQ1600TD (as in time-domain). The ADQ1600TD contains both hardware and firmware optimizations - including DBS and programmable DC-bias - that enable optimized pulse capture.

Our commitment to customers working with frequency domain applications remains intact, but to better distinguish between the models we are choosing to rename the ADQ1600 to ADQ1600RF. The performance of this product remains that same as it was on the ADQ1600 so the only difference is the new name.

Both models continue to offer a rich feature set as well as open access to the on-board Xilinx Virtex 6 LX240T FPGA.

Please do not hesitate contacting us if you have questions and/or if you need recommendations on which model to chose.

Achieve one extra bit of resolution and insensitivity to temperature variations!

DBSSP Devices provides high-speed digitizers in the 12 to 14-bit domain. Our GS/s acquisition capabilities offer sub-nanosecond time-resolution.

AC-coupled digitizer front-ends offer the best bandwidth, noise, and distortion performance compared with other alternatives. SP Devices' AC-coupled digitizers for pulsed-data applications do not suffer from the two main drawbacks that are otherwise typical in AC-coupled configurations - limited dynamic range for unipolar signals and fluctuating pulse baseline due to temperature drift and charge accumulation.

Since SP Devices' AC-coupled digitizers are equipped with a digitally-programmable analog bias after the AC-coupling, unipolar signals can utilize the full input range of the ADC irrespectively of the direction of the pulse, thereby effectively saving one bit of resolution.

SP Devices' AC-coupled digitizers are also available with a proprietary digital baseline stabilization technology (DBS) providing excellent stability of the output signal baseline. With DBS, all recorded pulses will start from the same user-defined level and pulsed-data acquisition tasks become totally insensitive to temperature effects. This provides the best possible conditions for the most demanding time-of-flight measurements.
