The built-in peer-to-peer (P2P) functionality enables data recording at the maximum possible data throughput rate. The data is transferred directly from the digitizer to the storage device via a PCI Express switch inside the chassis.
The main benefit of P2P streaming is that it eliminates host involvement in facilitating data transfer. This is a huge advantage compared to conventional solutions which require data to be copied via the host (PXIe controller) RAM. With peer-to-peer operation, both the CPU and RAM can instead be used for other tasks such as data post-processing, data display, and more.
ADQDSU provide up to 32 Terabytes of storage in a single 3U PXI Express slot. Multiple units can be combined within the same chassis to increase the total storage capacity so that long-duration signals can be recorded. Switching between storage units is done automatically in the background without user interaction guaranteeing that recording is seamless without any loss of data.
The ADQDSU is compatible with several digitizers and other infrastructure/hardware available from Teledyne SP Devices. Both the storage unit and the digitizers use the same application programming interface (API), and this helps deliver a plug-and-play user implementation and integration. It is compatible with all major PXI Express chassis brands, including NI, ADLINK, and more.
